"It'd creeped over the far edge of the rock, just a hand at first, long fork-like fingers gripping the dead animal like a doll. Then I saw the head, and it grinned at me, bright golden eyes cutting the darkness like two beacons. It was as though it knew I was there and had waited for the most opportune time to make its grand entrance and scare the piss out of me, which it did, but I hadn't noticed that until later.
"When I finally made it past the dreadful glow of its eyes, the rest of the thing's face came into focus..."

THE DEMONOLOGIST PUBLISHED
I am very pleased to announce that my new novel, THE DEMONOLOGIST, has been published. Leisure Book Club members have begun receiving their copies, and so far the feedback has been refreshing. Thanks to all of you that out it on the top of your to-be-read piles. I am grateful!
The book should start showing up in the stores this week, next week at the latest. My novel DEEP IN THE DARKNESS (recently nominated for the Bram Stoker Award) has done quite well, and I am hoping that THE DEMONOLOGIST can follow in its footsteps.
I do hope you enjoy reading THE DEMONOLOGIST. This is quite simply the most horrific, visceral piece of fiction I have ever written. Feel free to drop me a note at Michael@Laimo.com with your thoughts on it after you've finished reading it. I'd love to hear from you!
Also...for those of you in the Long Island area, I will be signing books at the Barnes & Noble Booksellers in Melville, NY, on Thursday May 19th, at 7:30 PM. The address and phone number for the store is: 380 Walt Whitman Road, Huntington Station, NY 11746 631-421-9886
Thanks for all your continued support!

DEEP IN THE DARKNESS NOMINATED FOR THE BRAM STOKER AWARD!
It is with great honor for me to announce that my second novel, DEEP IN THE DARKNESS, published by Leisure Books in paperback and Flesh & Blood Press in hardcover, has been nominated for the Bram Stoker Award in the category of 'Novel'. The awards are given out every year, and recognize 'superior achievement' in a number of categories. It goes without mention that the Stoker is the most prestigious of all horror lit awards, with the novel category the most touted. I am still stunned with elation as I write this (and NO, this is no April Fool's joke!), and look down the list of nominees. Here's the list of nominees:
The Wind Caller by P. D Cacek (Leisure) The Dark Tower VII: The Dark Tower by Stephen King (Donald Grant/ Scribner) Deep in the Darkness by Michael Laimo (Leisure/Flesh & Blood Press) In the Night Room by Peter Straub (Random House)
As you can very well imagine, to be mentioned alongside these amazing other novelists is a dream come true.
Once again, I must thank everyone for their continued support. This has been a crazy ten years, but today makes me realize that it has all been worth it.
