"It'd creeped over the far edge of the rock, just a hand at first, long fork-like fingers gripping the dead animal like a doll. Then I saw the head, and it grinned at me, bright golden eyes cutting the darkness like two beacons. It was as though it knew I was there and had waited for the most opportune time to make its grand entrance and scare the piss out of me, which it did, but I hadn't noticed that until later.
"When I finally made it past the dreadful glow of its eyes, the rest of the thing's face came into focus..."

DEAD SOULS to be published by Leisure Books; DEEP IN THE DARKNESS Movie Update
I am very pleased to announce that LEISURE BOOKS, publisher of my novels ATMOSPHERE, DEEP IN THE DARKNESS, and THE DEMONOLOGIST, has agreed to publish my next horror novel DEAD SOULS. Anticipated publication date is early 2007.
Like THE DEMONOLOGIST, DEAD SOULS is another foray into religious horror. It tells the story of a fanatical minister who is convinced that he has cracked a code in the bible revealing that Jesus's rise from the dead was due to a clandestine study of Egyptian black magic. Of course, things go wrong when the obsessed minister attempts the ritual on his own family. There's a little bit here for every horror fan: mass murder, suicide, dismemberment, and, oh yeah…zombies!
DEAD SOULS, coming from LEISURE BOOKS, early 2007.
Many readers have been asking about the DEEP IN THE DARKNESS movie, and I have a bit more info to share. Development is well under way. The final script, written by THREADING OVER DARK director G. William Stechman, is complete. And let me tell you, it is KILLER! Fans of the book will love what Stechman has done with the story. I won't reveal anything as to not spoil it, but our little Isolates will be meaner and nastier than ever. There's quite a bit in store for the movie as far as promotions are concerned as well, and I will be sure to reveal them to you as soon as I can. DEEP IN THE DARKNESS will be directed by Stechman, and produced by Jon Rogers and Lacie Oakley. Yours truly will serve as executive producer.
In the meantime, to tease you a bit, here's some preliminary conceptual art of what the Isolates will look like, courtesy of Burning Grounds Motion Entertainment art director, Jon Rogers:
As mentioned in my previous announcement, G. William Stechman is also scripting THE DEMONOLOGIST. There are some irons in the fire regarding attaching a director and producer to the film. I’ll update you on this as soon as I can.
I will definitely be at the World Horror Convention this year in San Francisco, and have plans to attend the Fangoria Weekend of Horrors in Chicago. If anyone plans to be at either con, please let me know.
Thanks for your continued support!
